CLAIRE BURBRIDGE
Location: William Angel Gallery, 1 Barry Parade, Peckham Rye, London SE22 0JA

Burbridge's work delicately explores ideas of the elegance and ordered chaos inherent in nature and natural forms.

Through unique resin-casting processes, and an instinctive and subtle crafting of materials, Burbridge's work has an inimitable and captivating quality that is immediately apparent. She explores ideas in a variety of media, but throughout the work the beauty in her visual language is instantaneous.

Artwork exhibited spans from intuitive yet considered large-scale drawings using bamboo pens Burbridge fashions herself, to resin, wax and pigment sculptures that beautifully encase fluid figures. Crocheted wire and handcrafted paper assemblages complete Burbridge's repertoire/collection.

Burbridge studied at the Ruskin School of Fine Art and later gained a Masters in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Art. She has exhibited in group and solo shows internationally; in London, San Francisco, New York and Berlin to name but a few. She has won awards such as the Vivien Leigh prize for printmaking, and more recently has been nominated for the National Sculpture Prize.
